Boys we need to take a serious look at the2 hr up rule and the 10th batter. Good example on how stupid it is.... Nobody on base you are the 10th batter and you are 2 up with homeruns you might as well just walk off the field because we all know how hard it is to hit a inside the park homerun which by the way gets included as a homerun so would it be a homerun or would it be just a single? Or you have a guy on first and second and you are the 10th batter up by 2 homeruns and you smack another 1 out to score nothing. It may not be an issue now but when playoffs come around and a game may be decided by this it would be a crappy way to lose!! Also some thought needs to be givin regarding not being able to change playoff games because I am sure you are all aware of the major tournys happening in Sept and I am sure there will be a lot of teams that will either forfeit or lose because there players are playing these tournys. Anyways just some food for thought for tomorrow night. I will not be there but Ray will be taking my spot so hopefully these items can be brought up. Thanks guys

I agree that the +2 rule may not be the best solution, I would propose that we change it to a max number of HR allowed in a game. Softball Canada rule has a 7 run rule. A team may hit up to 7 HR in a game and after that, each home run that clears the fence without touching a player or anything else is an automatic out. I am not saying we have to follow this rule as written, but we could use it as a basis to set up a rule that would be good for the league.

Well I for one think the 2+ rule is absolutely sufficient for our league. You all have to remember that our park is not as big as "most" parks that are out there that are governed by some of these home run rules. We used to be open on home runs and that lasted that way for years and years and now we have implemented a rule that is similar to what "other" leagues and constitutions around us go by which keeps us somewhat up to date with what is happening.
Let me give you an example of how you can mess this rule up.... You have your 2 home runs hit and the other team has not hit any at this point and one of your players gets to the plate that is a hard hitter but maybe once a year "may" hit one out and this is the time he does it... you want to punish him with an out because he did something that is all about baseball? I mean seriously... think of how many of you got upset when the NHL mutters the idea of taking fighting out of hockey!! That would be like only allowing 2 goals in a game by means of a slap shot and then if it happens again that player sits in the box for 2 minutes. Doesnt really make sense does it?
The home run rule as it is right now is a fantastic rule in my opinion and up to this point... I have not heard anyone complain about it. Good job executives!

Just a thought. Don't mean to argue with you Doug but I agree with Jim. A game will NEVER be decided by the +2 homerun rule as the 10th batter in the last inning IS alloud to hit a homerun even if you have the +2. It has to happen in the LAST inning though. As far as hitting an inside the park. The way the rule is worded is that the ball must fly untouched over the fence to be counted in the homerun total. Ask Peter Bell, it can go over the fence touched, It has happened to him TWICE lmao. Any way you look at this rule the game will not be determined by a homerun or not. You just have to manage your homeruns against the weaker teams.
